Grant Recipient: Salvation Army of San Diego

Established in 1865, The Salvation Army is motivated by a concern for the needs of all humanity.  The organization serves people in crisis, providing food to the hungry, shelter for the homeless, rehabilitation for victims of alcohol and drug abuse, disaster relief services, day care centers, summer camps, holiday assistance, services for the aging, shelter for battered women and children, correctional services, vocational training, and family, individual, and career counseling.

Project Support: San Diego Corps Community Food Drive

The Salvation Army takes hungar seriously and counts on generous donors to help sustain those in need.  For many families, single parents, and seniors there is often the choice of paying the rent or buying groceries.  For the homeless, finding something to eat can be an all day mission.

In tough times, many hard-working men and women turn to The Salvation Army for help.  Today’s economy is especially difficult…after paying the rent and buying gas to get to work, there is often little or no money left for food.  With emergency food boxes, The Salvation Army offers the basics, including canned fruit, vegetables, protein and carbohydrates.
