Seeing the potential for groundbreaking new technologies to help the environment, medicine, energy and more, the Waitt Foundation is a founding sponsor for the Foresight Institute’s Technology Roadmap for Productive Nanosystems.
What Are Nanosystems?
Productive Nanosystems are functional systems that make atomically precise structures, components and devices under programmable control. The Roadmap provides a common framework for understanding the pathways for developing such systems, the challenges that must be overcome in their development and the applications they can address.
Everyday Applications
The universality of nanotechnology means it is being applied to almost every facet of modern life—from nanocomposites that can detoxify polluted bodies of water in a matter of hours, to synthetic substitutes for natural bone to even a process that will convert coal into gas quickly and efficiently, the applications are endless.
The Innovation Highway
The Roadmap serves as a basis for formulating research and commercialization agendas for achieving these capabilities. Productive Nanosystems will drive research and applications for governments, corporations, research institutions, investors, economic development organizations, public policy professionals, educators, the media and more.
