Pearl Islands, Panama
Working with Fritz Hanselmann and Jim Delgado (among many others) we worked to investigate the origins of a mysterious sub washed up on Panamas Pearl islands. This Civil War era relic was constructed in New York and was the first lock out cub ever built. It was brought to the Pearl Islands to use harvesting pearls but lack of knowledge about decompression sickness led to the death of all who dove her. We studied the surrounding area using small AUV’s and made an intensive survey of the interior of the sub.
